Post 5 Privacy

The Right to Privacy is a very key aspect and treasure to all people, when it is threatened or violated things can get very hairy. In the Ted talks and videos I have watched I was able to witness how our daily lives are being monitored, controlled, manipulated and tracked. Every step we take and more importantly every post we make there is always a presence. In the first Video I had watched the topic initially started off about tattoos, however as the lecture had continued on it moved into a sort of digital footprint awareness lecture. The speaker talked about how your social media is attached to you just like a tattoo and it is with you forever. There was a line from it I remember particularly as we are very close to achieving Immortality. This hit me hard because the speaker was correct about our social media lives and our presence will be here when we die and after. This is why we need to leave a tatto on our legacy that we can stand behind, be proud of and inspire others with.

The next talk I had watched was about how we are under constant surveillance and our privacy is constantly being invaded. A point made in the speech was that “The government knows who goes to church and who doesn't, who is meeting and who is at home”. It is however common knowledge that the government is spying on us and is watching and monitoring us. People in positions of power in order to maintain it must always keep track of its people and be able to control them. These are the qualities of a dictator controlled nation. American politicians  rant about freedom but cannot allow its people to have it. The 3rd video is similar to the second video our telephones were programmed to be available for The government to tap into and be able to access. Now every production company is making encrypted phones so that it is harder for the government to spy on us. However, elected officials are unhappy about this because of national security and it gives bad people a lot more wiggle room to do things that are harmful towards good people. This is the only valid reason I see for the government invading the privacy of regular people but at the same time it is a double edged sword that I feel needs to be carefully examined for better options and flexibility.

How To Know If Your Phone Is Hacked And How To Fix It

These Issues affect me and my generation because we are being monitored and I feel that a lot of my generation is in the dark about just how much the government actually spies on us. I feel honestly something that is really effective against any type of device infiltration is the usage of VPN's. I myself use one and I have to say it is extremely effective.
